German butter cake

Ingredients....


1 tablespoon of dry yeast.

1/2 cup of sugar.

1/2 cup lukewarm water.

1/2 cup unsalted butter.

3/4 cup of milk.

1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder.

A tablespoon of grated lemon peel.

3 eggs.

4 cups of all-purpose flour.

        To cover:

3/4 cup unsalted butter.

1/2 cup of sugar.

3/4 cup brown sugar.

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder

1/3 cup ground walnuts.


The method....

Wipe the oven tray with a little butter so that the cake does not stick.

In a small bowl, mix the yeast with a tablespoon of sugar and lukewarm water and leave it in a warm place for 15 minutes, or until bubbles form in the water. In another bowl, mix the rest of the sugar, salt and butter. Heat the milk with the vanilla until boiling, then add the mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, then add it to the yeast mixture, add lemon peels, eggs and flour to it, and mix well for 5 minutes until the dough holds together.

Put the mixture in a bread bowl anointed with butter, cover with a cloth, and leave it in a warm place for 30-45 minutes, until the dough doubles in size.

To cover:

Mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon and vanilla well and spread a spoonful of this mixture on the surface of the cake.

Then put the cake in the oven at 400 degrees for 35 minutes until the surface of the cake is golden, then take the cake out and leave it to cool.
