Cast iron utensils may be called
Dutch ovens (due to their prevalence in the Netherlands) are thick-walled metal pots usually made of cast iron with a narrow round lid. It was used for cooking food and was used for frying and baking on an open fire and inside the tandoor . Modern cast iron pots are made of aluminium, but in the past they were made of cast iron and had a round lid. This pot was placed on coal . Coals were also placed on the lid. Stone ovens, hearths, and chimneys are called cast iron pots.
History of cast iron utensils
In the late 1600s, Dutch metallurgical production began, using Dutch dry sand to make molds that allowed pots to have a smoother surface. Therefore, metal cookware produced in the Netherlands was exported to Britain and several other European countries.
In 1704, the Englishman Abraham Darby decided to go to the Netherlands to study the Dutch system for manufacturing the Dutch oven, and after four years he returned to England and obtained a patent in the process of producing utensils similar to the Dutch oven and began producing metal utensils in Britain.
