Envy is one of the most dangerous heart diseases that afflicts humans, and it indicates weak faith in God Almighty, as God Almighty says: {Or do they envy people for what God has given them of His bounty?}, [1] so a Muslim must strive against himself so as not to become afflicted with this heart disease and He should rise above it, and likewise he must always ask God Almighty for His bounty, and our Noble Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - has advised us to protect ourselves from the evil eye and envy by reading the Noble Qur’an a lot and praying, [2] and in the following are some of the Noble Verses and supplications that protect the Muslim. From the evil eye and envy:
The comprehensive supplications from the Qur’an and Sunnah
First: Quranic verses
There are verses mentioned in the Holy Qur’an to protect against the evil eye and envy, and their explanation is as follows: [3]
{In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful* Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds* The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful* Master of the Day of Judgment* You are the One we worship and thee we seek help* Guide us to the straight path * Follow the path of those whom You have bestowed, neither of those with Your anger nor of those who go astray.[4]
{This is the Book in which there is no doubt. It is a guidance for the righteous. Those who believe in the unseen and perform prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them. And those who believe in what It was revealed to you and what was sent down before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain.* These are upon guidance from their Lord, and it is they who are the successful.[5]
{The lightning almost takes away their sight. Whenever it shines for them, they walk in it, and when it becomes dark for them, they stand up. And if God had willed, He would have taken away their hearing Their insight: Indeed, God has power over all things.[6]
{And follow what the devils recite on the King of Solomon. He died ۚ and what they teach from anyone until we say, but we are a temptation, so do not disbelieve. Where With it from anyone except by God’s permission. And they learn what harms them and does not benefit them. And they know that whoever buys it will have no share in the Hereafter. And it is evil What they sold their souls for, if they only knew.[7]
{Neither the disbelievers from the People of the Book nor the polytheists wish for any good to be sent down to you from your Lord. And God selects for His mercy whomsoever He wills And the great virtue}.[8]
{Many of the People of the Book wish to turn you back into unbelievers after you have believed, out of envy on their own behalf after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and forgive Until God brings His command. Indeed, God has power over all things.[9]
{So if they believe in the same way as you have believed in him, then they are guided. And if they turn away, then they are only in discord. Then Allah will suffice you for them. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing God. And who is better than God in His eloquence? And We are His worshipers.[10]
{And your God is one God, but God is the Most Merciful. The people, and what God has descended from the sky from water, so they revived the earth after its death and broadcast in it all the dolls and the sacrifice of the ritual The heavens and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.[11]
{Allah, there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Ever-Subsisting. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Who is there who can intercede with Him? Not by His permission. He knows what is before them and what is behind them. They do not encompass any of His knowledge except what He wills. His Throne extends as wide as the heavens. And the earth - and their preservation will not tire Him - and He is the Most High, the Great.[12]
{The Messenger believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Everyone believes in God and His angels and His books and His messengers. We make no distinction between any of His messengers. And they said poison On our behalf and we obeyed. Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return You take us to task We have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, and do not place upon us a burden as You placed upon those before us. Our Lord, and do not burden us with that which we have no strength to bear Pardon us and forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our master, so help us against the disbelieving people.[13]
{More He sent down the Criterion. Indeed, those who disbelieved in the verses of God, for them is a severe punishment. And God is Mighty, Possessor of vengeance. Indeed, nothing is hidden from God. On earth nor in the heaven* It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.[14]
{Allah bears witness that there is no god but Him, and the angels and the possessors of knowledge, standing with justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise}.[15]
{Say, O God, Owner of the kingdom. You give dominion to whomever You wish, and You take away dominion from whom You wish, and You exalt whomever You wish, and you disgrace whomever You wish. In Your hand is good. Indeed, You are upon Him You have power over all things. * You cause the night to enter into the day, and You cause the day to enter into the night, and You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living, and You provide for whomsoever You will Without reckoning}.[16]
{Say: Indeed, bounty is in the hand of God. He gives it to whomsoever He wills. And God is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.
{Is it not the religion of God that they desire, when to Him have all who are in the heavens and the earth submitted, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?}.[18]
{And whoever desires other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.} [19]
{Fight them, God will punish them at your hands and disgrace them, and grant you victory over them, and heal the breasts of a believing people}.[20]
{And Job, when he called upon his Lord, “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”[21]
{And when I am sick, He heals me}.[22]
{Say, O disbelievers* I do not worship what you worship* nor are you worshipers of what I worship* nor am I a worshiper of what you worship* nor are you worshipers of what I worship* of you He is not your religion and I have a religion.}[23]
{Say: He is God, One.
{Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of Creation* from the evil of what He created* and from the evil of the darkening when it approaches* and from the evil of blowing at the knots* and from the evil of an envier when he envies}.[25]
{Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the people* the King of the people* the God of the people* from the evil of the deceitful whisperer* who whispers into the hearts of the people* from heaven and people}.[26]
Second: The comprehensive supplications from the noble Prophet’s Sunnah
There are supplications mentioned in the noble Prophetic Sunnah that protect the Muslim from the evil eye and envy, and their explanation is as follows: [27]
To say three times: (I seek refuge in the perfect words of God from the evil of what He created).[28]
To say three times: (In the name of God, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can be harmed, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing).[29]
(I seek refuge with you both with the perfect words of God, from every devil and monster and from every evil eye.) [30]
(I seek refuge in God and His power from the evil of what I find, and I seek refuge seven times.) [31]
(I seek refuge in the perfect words of God, which neither the righteous nor the immoral can pass over, from the evil of what He created, spread, and acquitted, and from the evil of what descends from the sky, and from the evil of what ascends therein, and from the evil of what He spreads on the earth, and from the evil of what emerges from it, and from the evil of the temptations of the night and the day, and from the evil of every one who strikes except one who strikes. He knocks with goodness, O Most Merciful).[32]
(I seek refuge in God, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed Satan, from his whispering, hissing, and his spitting.)[33]
(In the name of God, the soil of our land, the saliva of some of us, our sick will be healed, with the permission of our Lord.)[34]
(O God, the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of everything and its Sovereign. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself, and the evil of Satan and his polytheism. In a narration: And from committing evil against myself or turning it into a Muslim.) [35]
(Remove misfortune, Lord of the people, and heal, You are the healer. There is no cure except Your healing, a healing that does not leave behind an illness.)[36]
