The supplication for the dawn prayer, or what is called the supplication of Qunoot at dawn, is repeated either before or after bowing the second rak’ah by saying: “O God, You are the one we worship, and to you we pray and prostrate, and to you we seek and worship. We hope for your mercy and fear your punishment. Indeed, your punishment is attached to the disbelievers We praise you for goodness, and we do not disbelieve in you, but we believe in you and submit. And we will remove those who disbelieve in you.”[1]
Supplication in the dawn prayer
Scholars differed regarding the ruling on the dawn prayer supplication, which is known as the Qunoot supplication. The Hanafis and Hanbalis said that there is no Qunoot in the Fajr prayer except in emergency situations for Muslims, and the Malikis and Shafi’is disagreed with them. As they said about the legitimacy of Qunoot in the dawn prayer, the Malikis defined it as the dawn prayer and not the rest of the prayers, in the second rak’ah after reading and before bowing, and the Shafi’is said that it should be performed after bowing the second rak’ah.[2]

“O God, to You we worship, to You we pray and prostrate, to You we seek and worship, we hope for Your mercy and we fear Your torment. Indeed, Your torment is attached to the disbelievers. O God, we seek Your help and seek Your forgiveness, and we praise You in goodness, and we do not disbelieve in You, and we believe in You, and we submit to You, and we submit to You Who will make you a disbeliever?” [Narrated by Al-Albani, in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Abzi, p. Various supplications in the dawn prayer
“O God, You are my Lord, there is no god but You, I trust in You, and You are the Lord of the Great Throne. Whatever God willed happened, and what He did not will did not happen, and there is no power or strength except in God the Most High, the Great. I know that God is capable of all things, and that God has knowledge of all things.” Oh God, I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself, and from the evil of every living creature whose forelock You hold. Indeed, my Lord has power over all things.
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, in the name of God, the best of names, in the name of God, with whose name no harm can cause harm, in the name of God, who is sufficient, in the name of God, the healer, in the name of God, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can be harmed, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, in the name of God, upon myself and my religion. In the name of God for my family and my money, in the name of God for everything that my Lord has given me. I seek refuge in God from what I fear and beware. God is my Lord and I do not associate anything with Him. Glory be to Your neighbor, glory be to Your praise, and Your names are sanctified, and there is no god but You. Oh God, I seek refuge in You from the evil of every stubborn tyrant. And a rebellious devil, and from the evil of doing evil, and the evil of every living creature, you are taking hold of its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.”
“O God, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin I stepped into with my feet, extended my hand to, contemplated with my sight, listened to with my ears, uttered with my tongue, or wasted in it what You provided for me. Then I sought Your sustenance for my disobedience, and You provided for me. Then I used Your sustenance for my disobedience, so You covered it for me. I asked You for more, but You did not deprive me of anything. You will continue to return to me with your benevolence, O Most Generous of the Generous.”
“O God, protect me from what concerns me and what I do not care about. O God, provide me with piety, forgive me my sins, and direct me to goodness wherever I turn. O God, make me easy for ease, and spare me hardship. O God, make for me a relief and a way out of everything that concerns me, and provide me from where I do not expect, and forgive me my sins.” And establish your hope in my heart, and cut it off from anyone but you, so that I do not hope for anyone but you, O Uhud. He who has no one has no hope except from you.”
“O God, I ask you in my prayers and supplications for a blessing by which you purify my heart, remove my distress, forgive my sins, correct my affairs, enrich my poverty, remove my evil, remove my worry and grief, heal my sickness, pay off my debt, relieve my sadness, and gather “With it, I rejuvenate myself, and my face becomes white with it.”
